Dance Studio Grows New Wings

Dance Studio Grows New Wings

Alstonville/Wollongbar based dance studio, Ballet Coaching, is set to sign a lease for a new studio space on the eve of its end of year show.

Ballet Coaching has been training young dancers and adult ballerinas for over twenty years. Since 1997, the dance school has been supporting Wollongbar Community Hall. Ms Feain, the director, though feels that Ballet Coaching needs a home to call its own.

So, on the 1st of December this year, Ms Feain's pen will be poised to sign the lease on brand new purpose built premises in Wollongbar, which will become The Dance Warehouse.

The Dance Warehouse will not only be home to Ballet Coaching. Ms Feain wants to invite other artists and practitioners to use the space.

Wollongbar is home to an increasing number of families, has one of the best primary schools in the region, and an excellent preschool, and this addition will offer the families in the Wollongbar community a wonderful afterschool activity just right across the road from the school.

"My hope is to create a vibrant space, bringing people together who share a passion for dance and the arts," says Ms Feain.  "I also want to offer my dancers a safe vinyl semi sprung purpose built dance floor in two studios with fixed mirrors and barres, exercise equipment and costume storage. The Palm Shopping Centre Wollongbar 58-62 Simpson Ave proves to be the ideal commercial location for these purposes."

Ms Feain believes The Dance Warehouse will increase foot traffic to the shopping centre, as it is directly across from the primary school. The Dance Warehouse will also attract others from outside the community, which will bring business (such as grocery shopping) to the Wollongbar community.

Signing the lease happens to coincide with the excitement of preparing for the end of year concert.
"Last weekend was a production line weaving the magic of creating fairy wings and coronets. My home studio is now very sparkly with lots of wayward glitter!" says Ms Feain.

The concert, titled 'Mendelssohn's Melodies' will commence at 4.30pm this Sunday, 4 December at the Ballina RSL. Tickets can be purchased through the online booking link.
